UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH — The House of Wisdom opened a multimedia exhibit celebrating the life and influence of Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, drawing students and visitors from across the United Arab Emirates.

The exhibit features interview recordings and interactive stations designed to introduce younger audiences to Darwish’s literary legacy. Organized in partnership with regional cultural institutions, the event highlights the poet’s global reach, with materials tracing his work from cities such as Moscow and Cairo to his lasting impact in the Arab world.

Several installations allow attendees to listen to Darwish’s poetry through headphones while viewing historic images of Palestine. A dedicated projection corner displays interviews and speeches, offering insight into the themes of memory, homeland, and identity that shaped his writing.

Students from universities across the UAE say the exhibit provides a deeper understanding of Darwish’s relevance today. Alya Al Suwaidi, an AUS student, said the experience “opens space for young people to reflect on how his work continues to speak to them.”

The exhibit remains open until March 13, 2026.
