{"id":1590,"date":"2021-04-29T11:59:11","date_gmt":"2021-04-29T07:59:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mcmmediahub.aus.edu\/?p=1590"},"modified":"2021-05-04T16:32:11","modified_gmt":"2021-05-04T12:32:11","slug":"aus-sustainability-library-team-up-with-earth-day-reading-suggestions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mcmmediahub.aus.edu\/index.php\/2021\/04\/29\/aus-sustainability-library-team-up-with-earth-day-reading-suggestions\/","title":{"rendered":"AUS Sustainability, Library, team up with Earth Day reading suggestions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Salma Atta&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH \u2013 Marking Earth Day 2021 on April 22, the American University of Sharjah\u2019s Sustainability Team, working with the AUS Library, issued a list of recommended books relevant to environmental issues, inviting AUS community members to read them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The email stated that the official Earth Day theme for this year is \u201cRestore Our Earth.\u201d The theme rejects the idea of adaptation and mitigation as the only ways to address climate change. The team said, \u201cIt is up to each and every one of us to restore our earth; not just because we care about the natural world, but because we depend on it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the email, Earth Day is the largest civic observance in the world with more than one billion people in 192 countries participating in it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To celebrate the event, the team worked with the AUS Library Team to create a special \u201cEarth Day Book Display.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It consists of 28 books including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cPhilosophy of Management and Sustainability\u201d by Jacob Dahl Rendtorff<\/li><li>\u201cDesign for Sustainability\u201d by Janis Birkeland<\/li><li>\u201cResearching Sustainability\u201d by Alex Franklin<\/li><li>\u201cThe Man with the Compound Eyes\u201d by Wu Ming-Yi<\/li><li>\u201cAfter Nature\u201d by W.G.
