SHARJAH, UAE–The American University of Sharjah\u2019s Emirati Club hosted an event to celebrate the United Arab Emirates\u2019 50th<\/sup> National Day on Nov. 24. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The preparations for the National Day were different from usual because of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere was a lot of challenges while planning for it. We had to think of the slightest detail such as seating plans, inviting performers, and ways to distribute vendors and how to get the food wrapped safely for students,\u201d said Fatima Jaber, AUS Emirati\u2019s Club activities coordinator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis was not the first on campus event for students only, but also for AUS\u2019 faculty,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Members of the Emirati Club arranged various performances related to the UAE’s culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe most favorite part of the event was the Yola performance as well as the Al- Ayyala that was performed by a professional band along with our AUS students,\u201d said Hind Almaazmi, AUS Emirati Club\u2019s executive assistant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Almaazmi said that it took them around four months to prepare for the event, but the in-action process took four days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The UAE\u2019s National Day is on Dec. 2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Dania Al Alami SHARJAH, UAE–The American University of Sharjah\u2019s Emirati Club hosted an event to celebrate the United Arab Emirates\u2019 50th National Day on Nov. 24.
