{"id":3232,"date":"2022-03-17T14:10:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-17T10:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mcmmediahub.aus.edu\/?p=3232"},"modified":"2023-10-08T11:07:59","modified_gmt":"2023-10-08T07:07:59","slug":"students-invited-to-pitch-business-ideas-in-entrepreneurship-club-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mcmmediahub.aus.edu\/index.php\/2022\/03\/17\/students-invited-to-pitch-business-ideas-in-entrepreneurship-club-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Students invited to pitch business ideas in Entrepreneurship Club competition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>By <\/em>Hind Aldah<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH \u2013 The American University of Sharjah\u2019s Entrepreneurship Club is holding a competition March 19 and 20, along with a workshop on March 16 for students to pitch business ideas for a chance to win prizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pitching workshop was held Wednesday by Yahya Iqelan, a programs junior manager at the Sheraa Hub, which is an entrepreneurship center located at AUS.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition, named \u201cWelcoming Tomorrow\u201d will be held via Zoom. \u201cWe are planning to have this as an inter-university competition,\u201d said Jovita Mariam Cherian, treasurer at AUS Entrepreneurship Club and one of the organizers of the competition. \u201cIt\u2019s mostly a matter of convenience for the students participating.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cherian added that the Entrepreneurship Club will invite students from across the United Arab Emirates to join.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked about how to pitch a successful business idea, Cherian said \u201ca pitch should be catchy and short in my opinion.\u201d She added that investors don\u2019t have much time to offer and would ask follow-up questions if they\u2019re interested.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition will include two rounds. In the first, all the teams will be given four minutes to pitch their business idea. There would be a follow-up Q&amp;A session by the judges that would last three minutes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In round two, judges will decide on six teams only that have passed round one and will be given five minutes to present their pitch. Another round of Q&amp;A will follow for five minutes by the panel of judges.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students must be involved in teams consisting of two to four members.
