UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH \u2013 American University of Sharjah students put their countries\u2019 traditional clothing on display during the March 10-11 Global Day\u2019s Cultural Fashion Show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fashion show featured 25 countries, each being represented by a pair of students; a male and a female. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students participating in the show were required to have their own cultural attire and attend rehearsals that took place on March 8 and 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was really interesting because I got to see different cultural outfits,\u201d said Zheng Yue Gu, president of the Chinese Cultural Club. \u201cI got to see how complex other cultures are. Nigeria and Libya really caught my eye,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every member of the Chinese Club was dressed in an outfit from a different dynasty, she said. Gu wore an outfit from the Ming dynasty, representing a bloodline of novelty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI would do it again,\u201d said Jaewoong Lee, research coordinator of the Korean Cultural Club. \u201cNot many people know about Asian countries\u2019 traditional clothing and it was a fun experience overall,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some cultural attire belonged to the royal class and was rare and expensive to find, he said. The Korean Club had gotten their outfit from the Korean Embassy, representing a united Korea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The show was held in the AUS auditorium after two rehearsals where students were instructed how to walk, where to stand and stop, how to make an entrance and exit, and how to hold their country\u2019s flag.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
