American University of Sharjah Mental Health Association hosted its first Mental Health Fest on Oct. 9 to promote wellness across campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event featured booths, activities and resources aimed at addressing student stress and mental health challenges. Organizers said the initiative was inspired by a university survey showing low well-being scores among students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each club contributed themed activities under the slogan \u201cThrive as One,\u201d including painting, planting, bracelet-making and writing cheerful messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe wanted students to see that mental health touches every part of life, not just psychology,\u201d said Mozna Aissa, vice president of the Mental Health Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ghada Al Sakaf, office\/project manager at the Office of Student Experience, said student attitudes have shifted. \u201cMental health is no longer taboo. It\u2019s great to see that openness,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The university also launched dorm-based events and college pop-ups. \u201cIf a student has an idea, we\u2019re ready to make it happen,\u201d Al Sakaf said. \u201cWe\u2019re here to support the student journey.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
