{"id":731,"date":"2020-10-18T11:29:12","date_gmt":"2020-10-18T07:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mcmmediahub.aus.edu\/?p=731"},"modified":"2020-11-01T12:20:49","modified_gmt":"2020-11-01T08:20:49","slug":"performing-arts-presents-poe-based-monologues-for-halloween","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mcmmediahub.aus.edu\/index.php\/2020\/10\/18\/performing-arts-presents-poe-based-monologues-for-halloween\/","title":{"rendered":"Performing Arts presents Poe-based monologues for Halloween"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Abeer Khan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH \u2013 American University of Sharjah performing arts students will for Halloween present an online story-telling production program based on Edgar Allen Poe\u2019s stories<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthony Tassa, professor and performing arts coordinator at American University of Sharjah&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>said designing the program was \u201cthe most logical thing to do\u201d given that Fall 2020 would be online.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tassa said he chose stories from Poe for the students to interpret because they are \u201cfirst-person narrative\u201d making them effective sources for monologues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He described the stories as, \u201ccreepy, dark, gothic [and] horror.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThings are difficult for the students right now\u201d due to the pandemic closing campus, among other things, said Tassa.
