UNIVERSITY CITY – The American University of Sharjah announced in an email on March 16 that staff and faculty will move to a remote working model from March 22 to April 2 to facilitate deep cleaning of on-campus facilities.
In the email, Provost Juan M. Sanchez and Chief Operating Officer Jeannette Vinke wrote that the IT office will help with moving office desktops to faculty residences if necessary.
A remote workday for staff was previously announced in another email from the Office of the Chancellor, stating that the university will evaluate readiness to operate remotely on March18.
According to the email, all staff and administrators are required to work from home and evaluate their experience on March 18 to address any issues prior to the two-week remote work period.
“The move to remote working will be an additional challenge, we very much appreciate your patience and understanding in these extraordinary times,” Sanchez and Vinke wrote.
The university created a webpage with short video guides to remote working to assist staff and faculty during this period, according to the email.
