UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the American University of Sharjah, officially opened the newly renovated BCE (Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences) building on March 20.

In an email sent that day to faculty and staff, College of Arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Mahmoud Anabtawi thanked His Highness for facilitating the complete renovation of the BCE building.

The project began before the start of the pandemic, and after campus closed in March 2020 continued with safety guidelines in place.

New equipment and facilities have been installed over the past months as part of the renovation. Anabtawi said the renovated building is providing an effective learning environment for students.

Anabtawi also thanked Chancellor Susan Mumm, Provost Juan Sanchez, and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Jeannette Vinke for their support and guidance for the project.

He also issued special thanks to BCE Department faculty members “for their hard work, patience, and for the excellent job they have done.”
