UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The American University of Sharjah announced Monday that, after 25 years, it has a new president.

In an email sent to faculty and staff, Chancellor Dr. Susan Mumm wrote that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and President of the university since its inception, has appointed Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi as the new President of AUS.

She will also serve as the chair of the university’s Board of Trustees, Mumm added.

The incoming president founded the Emirates Publishers Association as well as Kalimat Publishing Group. As an advocate for literacy and education, she was the first Arab woman to be appointed President of the International Publishers Association, Mumm said.
