UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH — Around 1,400 American University of Sharjah students and graduates met with 80 companies during the Career Fair organized with the American University of Sharjah Career Services office on March 5.
More than 900 undergraduates and almost 500 alumni networked companies looking for interns and full-time workers.
Employers surveyed said hiring qualifications were mainly dependent on applicants’ experience. A fresh graduate has better chances of securing an entry-level job if they have a positive attitude, according to employers from Richemont.
Representatives from other firms added that they are looking for optimistic, punctual, and hardworking candidates who seek growth and are knowledgeable of the company’s background.
They said that for “experienced positions,” soft and hard skills are equally important in evaluating an applicant, who must be culturally fit for the role.
In the week leading up to the event, the AUS Career Services office ran a week of workshops and panel discussions with entities such as LinkedIn.
