SHARJAH – Security at the American University of Sharjah worked to reunite lost children with their parents during Global Day on Friday and Saturday, including a young girl who went missing both nights, officials said.

The first incident occurred on Friday when a five-year-old boy got lost in the crowd.

“When we found the boy and asked for his name, he refused to tell us out of fear, so we were not able to say his name over the microphone,” said Security Officer Gafar Madani.

Madani said security officers instead announced a description of the boy, hoping his parents would recognize it. He was reunited with his family in less than seven minutes.

The second case involved a young girl who went missing on both Friday and Saturday night.

Security officers located and returned her to her parents within 10 minutes on both occasions.

“This occurs often, around two or three times during our Global Days,” Madani said.

He added that the security team is trained to handle such situations efficiently.

“These instances usually happen due to parental negligence, like the girl who got lost twice,” he said.
