SHARJAH—The American University of Sharjah is inviting residents to volunteer to staff university-approved cat feeding stations, according to an Aug. 10 email from the AUS administration.

The special feeding stations are part of the university’s response to complaints regarding the number of cats in some housing blocks, according to the email.

It noted that AUS has been implementing a Trap Neuter Release (TNR) program to try to control the stray and feral cat population, a measure requiring felines to be fed only at approved places.

It added the university is expected to issue a new procedure later this summer to govern pets in on-campus housing.
