SHARJAH – Under the theme of “my family reads” during the United Arab Emirates’ reading month, Sharjah Public Library is welcoming guests to the children’s section.
The children’s section includes an ample collection of books from 16 genres, ranging from arts and encyclopaedias to science fiction and religion.
The children’s section features a colorful interior that includes desks, a playhouse and classic wooden toys.
The age-appropriate library materials are constantly being updated.
Guests are welcome in the children’s section for free. However, for placing holds and borrowing books, a standard membership of AED 50 applies to kids up to 11.
Children under eight are not allowed in without a guardian.
To celebrate the UAE’s reading month, the library is offering a free annual membership until the end of March.
Director of Sharjah Public Library Eman Bushulaibi said, “the new initiatives stem from SPL’s mission to instill a love of reading among all age groups.”
“Ultimately, we aim to help our communities to transform reading into a daily habit,” she added.
