AUS announces holiday working hours for departments, staff

UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH- The American University of Sharjah announced in a Thursday email working hours for employees during the holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadan is a sacred month in Islam where Muslims fast, pray and serve the community. In the Gregorian calendar, the month is expected to begin on April 12 or 13, and end on May 10 this year.

According to the email from AUS’s Employee Services, office coverage will remain between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. during the month. However, departments can offer seven-hour shift options to employees, as per the email. 

As for Eid Al Fitr, an Islamic holiday celebrated after Ramadan, the university will close on May 10, according to the email. The email noted that operations will resume on 8 a.m., May 17.
