UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – According to a March 23 email addressed to undergraduates at the American University of Sharjah, final exams for the Spring semester will take place on campus from May 24 – June 5, with adherence to strict Ministry of Health regulations.

The email, written by Provost and Chief Academic Officer Juan M. Sanchez, stated that although physical attendance during final exams is mandatory, AUS is willing to make exceptions for people living abroad, with underlying health issues, or any other legitimate problems that prevent them from being able to come to campus to take their exams. Sanchez wrote that those who are unable to be present on campus will take their final exams online and be supervised with an online proctoring tool.

Sanchez added that students will not have access to residential halls due to capacity constraints. He also wrote that in order to be eligible to take exams whether face-to-face or online a declaration form must be completed by Tuesday, April 6. The form will determine to the university which students are able to come on campus or take the exam online. It will also enable the university to make the necessary arrangements for all.

Sanchez stated that the locations and timings for all exams, as well as guidelines for PCR testing and entering campus, would be sent later.
