SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates – In a talk with MCM 231 class on Thursday, American University of Sharjah Sustainability Project Coordinator, Julia McAllister, said that the sustainability team has set up a recycling center on campus.
McAllister said that as part of the partnership with Bee’ah, the center allows recycling of things that were very difficult to recycle on campus.
“It allows us to recycle e-waste which includes old power cords, old cellphones, plug adapters and things that might have stopped working. You can now drop those off at that spot near minimart,” she said.
She added that next month residential halls will celebrate the Sustainability Month so the residents will hear more about the AUS sustainability and recycling programs as resident assistants and ecological representatives will organize activities for them.
McAllister worked for over 15 years in museum education before joining the sustainability team at AUS.
