UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – COVID-19 booster shots will be available on campus at the American University of Sharjah for students, staff and faculty starting Thursday.
AUS’s Health Services sent out surveys Feb. 1 to registered students, faculty, and staff to assess their interest in taking a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine after the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention agreed to offer booster shots on campus starting Feb. 17.
The Health Services said that whoever is interested in taking the booster shot should be already vaccinated with two previous doses of the vaccine at least six months ago. They should be 18 or older if they received the Pfizer vaccine, and 16 or older if they received Sinopharm.
The booster shot program came as AUS reported a steady decline in COVID cases on campus, declining from the first week of in-person classes.
