UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The American University of Sharjah announced Tuesday that the College of Arts and Sciences is accepting nominations for the Excellence in Teaching and Research Awards 2021-2022.
According to an email from Dean Dr. Mahmoud Anabtawi, both awards will be distributed on April 14, during the CAS Annual Dinner.
The department heads of Physics and Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science will nominate one of the CAS lab instructors for the Excellence in Teaching Award, he wrote.
The Teaching Award will be evaluated and selected by the executive council, he added.
Anabtawi wrote that for the research awards, two committees will be formed: one for the Humanities and Social Sciences Award and one for the Math and Science Award.
He added that the HODs will begin with soliciting nominations for both awards immediately, and then when all nominations are received, Research Awards Committees will be formed.
Anabtawi noted that while there are specific guidelines and procedures provided by CAS to be eligible and nominated, there will be no monetary compensation or course releases associated with these awards.
