UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – American University of Sharjah staff employee hours will be reduced during Ramadan, while some late-day Wednesday classes will be rescheduled to Sunday mornings to avoid conflicting with Iftar timings, the university announced in March.
According to AUS emails, full-time employee work schedules will be cut by two hours during the holy month; deans and directors “have flexibility” in revising office timings.
To accommodate the rescheduling of late-day classes during Ramadan, the university’s revised Academic Calendar for 2022-23 added several hours of instruction on Sunday mornings. According to a March 14 from the office of Provost and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Juan M. Sanchez, classes normally scheduled for Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m. will be moved to Sundays between 8 a.m. and noon.
AUS Health Services will operate its PCR testing center from 2-4:30 p.m. Saturday through Thursday during Ramadan.
