American University of Sharjah’s Performing Arts Program presents its Soirée Musicale on Monday May 9 where students and faculty from the AUS Choir, Arabic Music Ensemble, and applied voice will perform different songs in a combined concert.

According to Assistant Professor Damon Dandridge, Soirée Musicale will feature all works of the AUS music program in the spring 2022 semester. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. in the Main Auditorium.

Dandridge said that around 50 AUS students and faculty will perform during the concert. He said that the choir will present seven songs from different choral genres, including classical, folk songs, and contemporary music.

Dandridge added that they chose to organize a combined concert because they subscribe to the T.E.A.M theory which stands for Together Everyone Achieves More.

“By having a combined concert, we effectively showcase our students to more of the AUS community,” he said.

Dandridge said that scheduling was the biggest challenge they have faced during the semester. He said that they had a difficult time adjusting to the new university schedule and Eid holiday. “As the Eid holiday was right before the concert, this meant that we had to make some extra time sacrifices to present a successful concert,” he added.

According to a separate email, tickets were sold from April 20 for 25 AED in the Arts building.
