RMIT honors AUS Electrical Engineering alumnus for renewable energy work

UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology has honored American University of Sharjah alumnus Dr. Nameer Al Khafaf for his research on integrating renewable energy sources into existing power grids.

Al Khafaf, a 2012 AUS graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, received the Prize for Research Excellence – Higher Degree by Research Award 2022. 

He is currently completing his research fellowship in renewable energy at RMIT.

According to an email, the Australian university’s Research Excellence and Impact Awards and Prizes recognize significant contributions to research excellence and impact and research training. Al Khafaf earned the award following a thorough examination of his research accomplishments, academic achievements, and the influence of his work on his field.

Al Khafaf said his research involves “practical insights and recommendations for distribution network operators.” Of the award, he said “It helps enhance my professional credibility and provides a platform to showcase my research achievements.”
