UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH — Sharjah’s Co-op launched a community bus at the American University of Sharjah in the beginning of the summer semester in parking 3 behind the College of Art, Architecture and Design.
The supermarket, previously situated on the ground level of the Student Center, has been adapted into a large, air-conditioned vendor bus. MobiCoop’s working hours are from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays. It closes on weekends.
The community bus is a temporary replacement until the Student Center renovations are completed.
Inside the new Coop bus is a narrow corridor packed with shelves and refrigerators, containing snacks and beverages. The bus also has a coffee machine and a fresh juice maker.
Finance student Aya Hazem, a regular Coop customer, said that the community bus is her “new go-to destination to grab a snack between classes.”
