UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – Heavy rainfalls forced the American University of Sharjah to shut down March 9-10, with campus events and exams postponed and outlets and services closed.
The university sent an email March 8 warning students and the larger AUS community about expected bad weather, and cited safety reasons for cancellations and closures.
Besides campus food outlets, AUS closed the library and Sports Complex. Delivery services were, however, still permitted, and the testing center operated as scheduled.
Bus service from Abu Dhabi and other emirates to AUS restarted March 10. Normal AUS operations resumed the following day following the assessment of weather conditions.
