Cold weather drives rise in sweatshirt sales at AUS merchandise shop

UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH — Cold weather in January led to a spike in sweatshirt sales at the American University of Sharjah merchandise shop.
Sales Representative Preciosa Quimson said, “Many students who visited the shop left with baggy sweatshirts, as oversized clothing is both fashionable and keeps them warm during the winter months.”
According to Quimson, sweatshirt sales have increased as temperatures have dropped. “Before, students bought t-shirts, but now sweatshirts are the most popular item,” said Quimson.
“In January,” she added, “we saw the highest sales, during the alumni dinner event.”
Quimson stated that many students, having grown up in the UAE, consider 21 degrees Celsius cold. “This is why they turn to AUS merchandise for warmth,” she said.
Students can visit the shop next to the main building to purchase their sweatshirts.
