UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH–The American University of Sharjah Student Council launched a new “Golf Cart Taxi” initiative to help students travel between campus buildings.

The service initiated after students complained about the long walks between buildings in the heat. The Student Council President, Qusai Al-Tah, collaborated with the Office of Student Experience to implement the service across the main plaza.

“We live in a country where it’s very hot to commute between buildings,” Al-Tah said. “Our goal was to tackle that problem and make campus life more convenient for students.”

The council president added that they expanded from one to two carts after seeing increasing demand. “This shows students that their voices are heard,” he said.

Razan Hany, a junior computer science student, said “It really helps in the heat.” She added that the taxi makes several stops at different buildings, picking up students along the way.

According to Al-Tah, the initiative serves around 200 to 300 students daily, reflecting the growing reliance on the service among students.
