UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH– Soul Café opened inside the School of Business Administration at the American University of Sharjah, offering students a place to relax and connect on campus.
After five months of construction, the new spot began serving students on Aug. 27 as the second branch of a brand that started in Oman.
According to co-owner Ahmed Bin Karam, Soul Café was founded with the goal of contributing to campus life through its initiatives.
“For Pink October, we donated all proceeds from our special drink to breast cancer awareness,” he said. “Next, we’ll do the same for student scholarship awards on Nov. 15 during Giving Day.”
Soul Café baristas said they take pride in the café’s charitable efforts.
“We were really proud when the café donated the Pink October drink proceeds to support breast cancer awareness,” said Grace Karimi, a barista. “It feels good to know our work goes toward something meaningful.”
The café offers a wide variety of pastries and drinks such as coffee, smoothies and matcha, along with light breakfast options to suit students’ busy schedules.
“Every time I come here it’s super packed, and I honestly don’t blame anybody,” said Rewa Taha, a student at AUS. “This place has an amazing atmosphere.”
Soul Café plans to keep introducing new ways to serve students and strengthen its role in campus life.
