UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The American University of Sharjah’s Writing Center has announced its annual Writing Contest, with an April 25 deadline.
The Writing Center stated in an email sent on April 6 that participants have two topics to choose from, for which they may write a poem, short story, or play, each up to 3000 words.
The first option is to produce work that describes the writer as an ordinary person living an ordinary life, except that “every morning, you wake up to find a new, strange message on the wall.”
The second option is a letter to either the writer’s past, present, or future self.
Organizers are offering cash prizes of AED 250, 150, and 100.
Work must be submitted before 11:55 p.m. on April 25 to [email protected].
