UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – American University of Sharjah student delegate Sabiha Ameen emphasized integrating sustainability and education during a class discussion on Oct. 4.

“The number one thing I work towards, cultivated through our education system, is a sustainable mindset,” said the AUS EcoRep, who will attend the 27th UN Climate Change Conference in Egypt.

According to Ameen, four students are to attend as part of the AUS delegation as “delegates, negotiators and speakers for the conference” in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, in November.

Promoting awareness and adopting recycling centers are initiatives of both the Office of Sustainability and the Sustainability Club, said Ameen.

“We want to go to COP28 with progress of what we have achieved,” said Ameen, referring to the UN Climate Change Conference that will be taking place in Dubai next year.
