UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH — With an eye both on campus security and easing parking problems, the American University of Sharjah’s Office of Protocol and Security is requiring students to register their cars and place stickers on them.
Students may register their car and apply for a sticker via https://banner.aus.edu/ where they can complete a form. Alternatively, they may visit AUS’ security offices in rooms MM30 or MM33 located on the Mezzanine floor of the main buildin g, bringing with them a valid AUS ID, UAE driver’s license, and car registration number. Obtaining a car sticker is different from obtaining access to paid-parking lots.
Chief of Protocol and Security Saeed Al Shamsi said that registering student cars is part of an ongoing effort to ensure safety and responsibility by making the owners of vehicles on campus identifiable. Safety issues, he noted, include those in which cars have blocked access in and around parking lots.
