UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The American University of Sharjah aims to improve videotelephony and online chat services to reach prospective students in the online Spring 2021 orientation, according to an AUS administration official.

Student Leadership Program Development Officer Rashed Kabbara discussed in an October email interview the success of the Fall 2020 online orientation. He said that “around 80 percent of new students were assisted by peer leaders during the Fall of 2020.”

While those involved with orientation faced technical difficulties, they are working to avoid similar mistakes in the future, Kabbara noted. Peer leaders will continue to attend training sessions online to stay updated on the changes occurring in the program, he added.

Kabbara said that an online orientation will be a good option for students who cannot attend the program on campus.

“The success of the orientation is an outcome of the collaboration between various departments, divisions and programs within the university,” he said.
