UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – In a late March email, the American University of Sharjah encouraged students who are undergraduates or have graduated in the last 12 months to take part in the virtual Middle East Public Relations Association’s National Student Pitch Challenge, April 17-18.

MEPRA is a charitable foundation that represents the Middle East’s public relations industry. According to the email this challenge is a free of charge event that has mini workshops and gives individuals the chance to interact with similar students from different universities and grab the attention of senior industry professionals. Participants will win a prize worth over AED 18,000.

The email stated that the candidates for the challenge must be in teams of five or less. These teams will have to answer a communications brief deposited by Emirates Literature Foundation. Emirates Literature Foundation initiated the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature which honors written and spoken word in the Arab world. After partaking in a live pitch with a group of senior industry experts, the winner for 2021 will be chosen.

Before the contestants get their briefing from the Emirates Literature Foundation, they will hear from senior professionals on how to examine a brief and create a communications strategy. To register for this event, log on to www.mepra.org/students or email [email protected].
