Journalism student Sarah Al Saeid reports on the “The Studio,” an in-mall art center in City Center Al Zahia, Sharjah.

SHARJAH – In its in-mall art center “The Studio,” City Center Al Zahia is hosting two exhibitions that showcase projects done by faculty members and students from the Colleges of Arts and Sciences at the American University of Sharjah and the University of Sharjah.

Faculty members from the Department of Art and Design at AUS produced a project titled “This Way! Navigation Tools in Visual Communications.”

The project aims to explain the history of arrows and the different concepts related to them.

Project “This Way!” sheds light on the spectrums of interpretations that follow arrows.

According to the project’s curators, “the arrow could have been a tool for killing (as in Robin Hood), [or] an indicator of directions.”

Additionally, the art center is hosting a project titled “Jalabiya Through the Lens.”

“Jalabiya Through the Lens” celebrates the creativity and photography skills of five CAS students from UoS.

Eman Adel, Muhab Tlimat, Hind Binfaris, Zina Arafa and Haya Hosnia captured the various features of the “treasured Emirati attire,” the jalabiya.

“Jalabiya Through the Lens” is a collaboration between City Center Al Zahia, Kashkha, and UoS.
