UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – Voters elected Othman Ahmed as president of the Executive Board of the American University of Sharjah’s Student Council along with Yara Aljabi as vice president on April 28.
AUS announced the winners of the Student Council elections in an Instagram livestream event. Vice Provost for Student Life Dr. Lisa Moscaritolo introduced the new executive board for the upcoming academic year.
She said she was proud of everyone who participated as it takes a lot of courage to run for these positions. Moscaritolo thanked the former Executive Board for their efforts in the last two semesters.
Moscaritolo also announced the College Representatives and the Community Outreach team.
Students showed their support for the candidates in the livestream chat.
The three electoral teams were United Voice, Red for Change, and Pivot. The teams promoted their campaigns through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. Students were able to vote online for their representatives of choice.
Candidates participated in a debate session to discuss their initiatives on April 26.
