UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The American University of Sharjah announced in a Dec. 27 email that all undergraduate classes will move to a four-day working week beginning January 2022, with classes scheduled from Monday to Thursday.
Most classes will be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with the exception of labs and recitations, which will be scheduled on Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., the email said.
The email stated that a typical 3-credit hour lecture course will last for two 75-minute periods either on Monday and Wednesday or on Tuesday and Thursday.
Students who may encounter time conflicts may be informed of them by their head of department, who will work alongside their academic advisor to find replacement classes, it said. Students will be able to view their new class schedule on Banner (the university’s online registration tool) by Jan. 6, 2022.
The email added that AUS is making efforts in ensuring that students will remain in courses they already signed up for during the pre-registration period.
