UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH- American University of Sharjah’s College of Arts and Sciences is hosting a lyric writing competition for all undergraduate and graduate students in which the winner will receive 5,000 AED.
This competition will be held in celebration of next year’s AUS Silver Jubilee.
Students will compose an anthem celebrating the culture and history of AUS since its founding. According to an email sent by CAS Dean Dr. Mahmoud Anabtawi, the work should be in English and structured to include two four-line verses and a single four-line chorus verse.
AUS music faculty will set the winning lyrics to original music and perform the piece during the fall 2022 celebration. According to the email, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi will attend this performance.
The deadline for submissions is May 1 and lyrics should be emailed to [email protected]. The winner will be announced by mid-May. The winner’s cash award will be applied to the student’s tuition.
