UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH — The American University of Sharjah conducted a class

“make-up day” on Saturday, Feb. 18 to allow the spring 2023 semester to finish as scheduled.

According to the Office of the Registrar, AUS added the makeup day in order to meet UAE Ministry of Education requirements for class days, and to allow the term to end on Thursday, May 11.

With exams factored in, the last scheduled day of the semester is May 25.

As per the university’s instructions, students on Feb. 18 followed their regular Wednesday schedules.

AUS facilities such as the writing centers, cafeterias, and university buses operated as usual. Marketing sophomore Perihan El Beltagui, a regular AUS commuter, said that she was “glad the university’s transportation services proceeded normally during this make-up day.”

She added that “thanks to the university’s system” she made it to her midterm on time despite usual weekend traffic.
