UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – In 2018, Latifa Almaazmi became the only athlete shooter in the GCC to join the Youth Olympic Games. Today, with several international events behind her, she is a sophomore at the American University of Sharjah.

“It was an honor for me and my club,” said Almaazmi of the experience in Buenos Aires as part of the Youth Olympic Games, adding that she had not expected to be selected for the event.

The Mass Communication student said she trained for five hours a day on average, specializing in shooting at 10 meters.

Almaazmi also participated in the ISSF Junior World Cup in Germany in 2018.

She joined AUS in fall 2021 and has put her training on hold as she works toward her degree, with a concentration in Integrated Marketing Communication.

She added that she already holds a diploma in sports from the American Institute of Professional Studies (AIPS) and plans to continue as a coach in the future.
