Students Win Prizes in Arabic Heritage Competition

University City, SHARJAH— The Arabic and Translation Studies Department at the American University of Sharjah awarded AirPods, JBL headsets and gift cards to competition winners on Nov. 14. 

The event was in collaboration with the Arabic Heritage Club. It took place in the Chemistry building from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Arabic heritage club is a newly established club at AUS. This event was an opportunity to invite more students to be members of the club.

The trivia tested students’ knowledge of the Arabic heritage and the Arab world. 

Many students participated in the competition, which included ten teams with 42 contestants. 

Professor Ahmed Ali, the head of ATS department, said, “Considering the imminent final exams, we were originally hoping for less than half this number.”

The competitors seemed to have enjoyed the event,and the winners were very happy with the prizes they received. 

One of the winners, Sara Qawasmeh, said, “It was really fun being competitive with friends and I look forward to another competitions.”

Students also had the chance to win a polaroid camera in the free raffle.
