OSA honors 20 at Student Appreciation Awards event

UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The American University of Sharjah’s Office of Student Affairs gave out more than 20 awards during the Annual Student Appreciation Awards at the Jawaher Reception and Convention Center on Tuesday, May 2.

The ceremony was organized to recognize the students who have made significant contributions to the AUS community through their participation in athletic, cultural, organizational, and social endeavors.

The Best Student Organization of the Year Award was awarded to the Emirati Cultural Club where the members were handed a trophy and a certificate on stage.

The Palestinian Cultural Club won the Best Global Day Performance Award, while the Best Global Day Pavilion Award was given to the Egyptian Cultural Club.

To recognize their commitment to sustainability the Sudanese Cultural Club received the Best Sustainability Pavilion Award.

The Team of the Year Award was presented to the women’s volleyball team where the entire team went on stage to receive their award.

“Tonight’s event was very bittersweet, and I was very proud to see my entire team celebrating a year filled with challenges and successes together,” said Layan Al Sourani, the president of the AUS Student Council.

Campus Services Coordinator Faisal Abu Abed said, “I’m incredibly pleased to be acknowledged for the effort I put forth this year, and I’m very eager to achieve even more ambitious initiatives next year.”
