UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH–The American University of Sharjah’s Formula Racing team reached a key stage in their building process this week as members start building the chassis, the main skeleton, of their new race car.
The team spent months designing and testing the main frame of the car through similuations before beginning to cut and shape the mental parts. Saurav Gupte, the head of the engineering team, said that the process was long but rewarding for them.
“It was stressful and involved many sleepless nights,” Gupte said. “But seeing the first part cut and polished made it all worth it.’
The team worked and consulted with sponsers like AGMC and Automech to secure materials and support for their project.
Ghazal Ghazi, a member of the web development team, said crafting the designs of the car gave them an opportunity to expand their reach to companies. “We discovered the importance of an outlet to professionally portray our building process, and this helped us with communicating with sponsors,” Ghazi said.
