UNIVERSITY CITY– Berklee Abu Dhabi will host the American University of Sharjah’s production of The Comedy of Errors for one night on April 10, a move performers say will expose the university’s theatre program to a wider audience.
Theatre Coordinator Layan Abouchkaier in a recent interview added that the cast will also present their production to the AUS community on April 6-9 at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Program’s rotunda.
“It is the first time we perform outside of campus, which indicates that our program is expanding and flourishing,” Abouchkaier added.
Abouchkaier said the actors would have around two hours only to rehearse on Berklee’s stage. However, she added that it can be “challenging” to perform in a new space for the first time.
According to Abouchkaier, the cast consists of 20 members that come from different majors, but “they have found themselves loving the world of theatre and the arts during their time in AUS.”
