UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The Annual Honors Convocation at the American University of Sharjah was held online on Thursday to honor the achievements of students who were placed on the 2020 Chancellor’s List as well as recipients of the Sheikh Khalifa scholarship.
Provost and Chief Academic Officer Juan Sanchez welcomed students, parents and guests. Sanchez said, “This year, through the marvel of technology, we come together virtually.” He said he felt proud for what the students had achieved under “particularly difficult circumstances dictated by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Chancellor Kevin Mitchell extended his congratulations to the students being honored for their academic achievement. He announced the recipients of the Sheikh Khalifa scholarship. The scholarship recognizes “academic excellence, leadership potential, service to the community, demonstrated talent in the field of study and participation in extracurricular activities,” said Mitchell.
According to Sanchez, the Chancellor’s List is the highest academic recognition that a student at AUS can achieve.
