Dubai- The Majlis, which is Dubai’s first fine art gallery, remains popular with artists.

The Majlis Gallery, which opened its doors in 1989, is in Bur Dubai’s Al Fahidi Historical District, formerly known as Al Bastakiya.

The gallery aims to promote and represent both local and international artists by providing a  platform for them.

The Majlis, which translates to a ‘meeting place’, is a haven for creative minds and art enthusiasts. Initially, the Majlis was Interior Designer Alison Collins’ house in the late ‘70s before the area turned into a historical site in the ‘80s.

The gallery features many creative pieces such as paintings, ceramics, glasswork and sculptures. The paintings showcase both modern and traditional Emirati art.

Visitors can explore the rooms of the house, which include a diverse art collection. The outside area is spacious, exhibiting several sculptures along with a variety of plants.

Due to COVID-19, visitors are required to wear masks and maintain social distancing inside the gallery.
