SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates – Women Empowerment Activities Coordinator, Tala Niem, said club activities and events will be held on campus in an interview conducted on Monday at the American University of Sharjah.

“We are excited to be back on campus to implement the actual purpose and effectiveness of our club in the real world,” said Niem.

According to Niem, the Women Empowerment Club plans to host seminars and invite guest speakers to talk about women empowerment on campus. The face-to-face events will offer students to speak up and create more awareness on campus.

In the past few months, the club had a hard time gathering viewers for their online events, Niem added.

A member of the Design Management Association, Jana Bastouni, said, “It has been really hard hosting events and games online, so we are very excited to attend events on campus.”

After almost two years of online learning, AUS will fully return to face-to-face learning for the Spring 2022 semester. The return on campus provides opportunities for students to join clubs, Bastouni added.

“I will be joining clubs and events because I want to expand my life outside of academics,” said Aya Zabalawi, a sophomore studying computer science.
