UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – The Engineering Learning Center at the American University of Sharjah began offering math tutoring sessions Feb. 21 to freshmen students for the spring 2023 semester.
College of Engineering administrators met Feb. 16 with ELC tutors, emphasizing the need to help students in early Calculus and Physics courses. Organizers said such sessions would give freshmen the confidence needed to continue pursuing their major regardless of how difficult they find these courses.
The CEN Student Council representative also discussed the sessions during visits to the two sections of NGN 110, Introduction to Engineering and Computing, in which about 500 freshmen-level students are enrolled.

In previous semesters, the center offered only engineering, physics, and chemistry courses.
