UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – Flu vaccination for staff and students at the American University of Sharjah started Sept. 21 and are available until Oct. 21.
According to a Sept. 14 email from AUS Health Services, appointments can be scheduled through https://ausuhs.youcanbook.me after completing the Influenza Vaccination Season Request Form on https://pulse.aus.edu/form/influenza-vaccination-form. Staff are allowed to register for their family members as well.
AUS Health Services is giving injections of quadrivalent influenza virus vaccine for children and adults, which is also known as Vaxigrip Tetra. The department recommends anyone over six months to get vaccinated, especially the elderly, children, chronically ill people and pregnant women, seeing as they benefit from the flu shot. However, they advise against persons less than six months old and those with severe egg allergy or Guillain Barre Syndrome receiving the injection.
