Sharjah, UAE: Pakistani Cultural Club started a fundraiser with Red Crescent on Sept. 12, at the American University of Sharjah, for flood victims in Pakistan.
Tahreem Kamran, the treasurer, said, “Our flood relief donation stall was set up in the student center as that is the most visited and ‘preferred’ building.”
Kamran said that they always had one Red Crescent member and one PCC member at the stall during the day who helped in informing people about the situation.
Kamran said that this was a flood relief program that helped as many flood victims as possible and raised awareness of the issue.
The President of the Club, Muhammad Junaid, said, “Other than representing the beauty, values, and traditions of our country, it was an obligation for us to ensure that maximum awareness and information regarding the flood situation in Pakistan is spread amongst the university students.”
Junaid said that this fundraiser was supported by Arab students as well.
He added that the fundraiser lasted for four days, and it ended on Sept. 15.
Junaid said, “after collecting the funds we gave it to Emirates Crescent and they did the rest.”
