UNIVERSITY CITY, SHARJAH – American University of Sharjah’s International Exchange Office currently has 29 students, which is nine more than the previous semester, said IXO Director Colby Seay.

He said more people have been participating in the program as life is returning to normal after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“To date, we have had over 930 students study abroad at AUS,” he said.

The director added that IXO will “host social events regularly and are always finding ways for the study abroad students to engage.”

Seay said the students’ nationalities vary from countries such as the United States, Hong Kong, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and others. The program participants tend to come from institutions in Europe and the U.S., he said. Seay added that IXO’s partners are located in those areas and East Asia.

According to Dea Dycaj, a Catholic University of Milan exchange student, her experience at AUS has been different from Italy where students listen to the professor lecture but not participate. She said although she isn’t used to this active and participatory environment, she adapted to it quickly and enjoys it.

“I really like the people here,” Dycaj added. “I feel like here is way easier to make friends.”
