SHARJAH – The American University of Sharjah Student Economics Association and the International Studies Student Association hosted a virtual panel event titled “Economic and Political Impacts of COVID-19” on April 21.
The event shed light on the effects of COVID-19 on economies and policies.
Four AUS professors led the discussion and presented the topic through different lenses and approaches.
Politics Professor Dr. Giacomo Chiozza discussed the topic from an international politics angle with a focus on international law.
Interim Head of the Economics Department Dr. Javed Younas elaborated on the economic aspects of the topic.
History professor Dr. Sara Farhan underscored the political economy of medicine from a historical lens while contextualizing the current crisis.
Professor John Katsos addressed the legal aspects associated with the crisis.
The webinar was conducted on Cisco Webex Meetings to accommodate a larger number of audiences.
